The historic Southmoreland neighborhood is located
in midtown Kansas City from 39th St. south to 47th St. (Cleaver II Blvd); and Main St. east to Gillham/Rockhill
Road.
Our neighborhoodwas
built around the turn of the century and we're also
home to the Southmoreland Historic District. The
Southmoreland Neighborhood Association was founded in 1973.

Monthly Board/neighborhood meetings are on the second Monday of every month from 7 - 8 p.m. at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church, 45th & Walnut.

President – Larry Garrett
About Larry: Larry has been active on past SNA Boards as Membership Chair and mostv recently as V.P., and currently represents Southmoreland on the 43rd & Main TIF Advisory Board. Larry produces movies when he's not working on behalf of the neighborhood.
Vice President – Barry Porter
Board Duties: Act as President in the President’s absence. Assist the President and other officers in their duties as needed.
About Barry:Barry is a long-time contributor to our neighborhood, and has served on past SNA Boards. When he’s not restoring his home and firing ceramics, he is regulating our state gaming industry.
Treasurer- Jason Ballou
Board Duties: Pay invoices and maintain financial records for Southmoreland (Electronically), and report to board and membership on financial matters.
About Jason: Jason has been a member of the Southmoreland Board and was most recently Chair of the Public Informatioon Committee. Jason owns and operates a retail business on Main Street.
Secretary – John Shaw
Board Duties: Prepare meeting minutes. Maintain SNA history, records, grant documentation and files.
About John: John is a 25 year resident of Southmoreland, and is retired from Seal Rite Corporation. John previously had a long and distinguished service as Secretary on the SNA board and has returned to help once again this year.
Chair, Planning and Development – Greg Corwin
Board Duties : Be an ambassador at city events and participate in community planning and development programs that effect the future of Southmoreland. Oversee fundraising and grant writing.
About Greg: Greg currently works in the Crossroads district and is responsible for Marketing at Birch Telecom. Greg has lived in the Southmoreland neighborhood for 12 years.
Chair, Membership and Community Liaison – Theresa Von Colln (co-chair: Gina Tamasi )
Board Duties: Recruit new members. Southmoreland liaison with businesses, institutions, individual members and prospective members. Maintain membership records and database. About Theresa: About Theresa: Theresa has been very active on Southmoreland board meetings and event planning and lives in the north part of the neighborhood.
Chair, Public Information - Vacant/ Shared Among All Board Members
Board Duties: Prepare and publish the SNA Newsletter quarterly. Coordinate announcements and press releases. Maintain and update the Southmoreland website. Arrange for TAN (Telephone Alert Network) phone messages.
Chair, Programs and Events- Gina Tamasi (co-chair: Theresa Von Colln)
Board Duties: Plan and implement one-time and recurring programs and events such as the Annual Block Party, Yard Sale, quarterly community dumpsters, and neighborhood cleanups.
About Gina: Gina has served most recently on the Board as Program and Events Chair. She’s done such a great job that we’re insisting she do it for another year. Gina operates a travel agency specializing in travel to Central and South America.
Chair, Neighborhood Culture and Preservation – Scott Hefley
Board Duties: Building codes including KCMO codes administration. Historic preservation matters including cases before the Landmarks Commission.
About Scott:About Scott: Scott has lived in the neighborhood for over 24 years, maintains a nationally-recognized collection of African-American quilts and his day job is artwork restoration for the Nelson Museum of Art.
Chair, Safety - Linda Andersen
Board Duties: Work proactively with neighbors, businesses, members, Police and Fire departments to improve personal and property safety in Southmoreland. Monitor performance of Safety Patrol provider.
About Linda: Linda has served on past SNA Boards, most recently as the Membership Chair. Linda markets real estate in and around our neighborhood.
