Brief
Issue Status

We've
got a few topline issues. They're summarized here with more
details provided via a link.
Rockhill Club
The
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is attempting to evict
the Rockhill Tennis Club. The
Rockhill Club is in the Rockhill Homes Association but
borders on our neighborhood. The SNA and the Rockhill
Homes Association have been working together over the
last 5 months to negotiate a compromise that benefits
both the neighborhoods and the Museum.
There is a Tues, June 3 public hearing on a zoning ordinance
to save the Rockhill Club. It's at 9:30 a.m. on the 26th
floor of City Hall. For more information on this issue
and the upcoming hearing please go to our Neighborhood
Backgrounder for more information.
Cleaver TIF
The
Cleaver Blvd. TIF is
a proposed development that would demolish 10 historically-significant
apartment buildings (which are in need of repair) and
replace them with a 12-story hotel, luxury condos and
newly-constructed apartments. The project is approx.
$90M, of which $15M will be publicly-financed via TIF
for underground parking.
For
the most recent updates (as of 4/8/08) please
go to our Neighborhood
Backgrounder for a detailed
discussion and blog.
A neighborhood backgrounder will be posted on this issue
soon.
KCPD Boundary Change
The
KCPD Central Patrol boundary change (moving the
Central Patrol division to north of 39th Street, and
making 39th the dividing line between Central and Metro
Patrol Divisions) is on hold because of the negative
reaction they have received from neighborhoods.
Update
1/9/08: The KCPD has put on hold
their plans to split patrol divisions at 39th Street. A
meeting is being held Thursday, 1/24/08 at 1328 Agnes,
the former site of the police academy. The KCPD will
be sharing information and beginning a new planning process.
Chief Corwin's letter to the neighborhoods on this matter
is here.
