The current mayor of Kansas City is Quinton Lucas. The city is divided into six council districts. Southmoreland is part of the fourth district. Its representatives are currently Eric Bunch for In District, and Katheryn Shields for At-Large.

The Public Works Department provides optimal value in designing, building, operating and maintain the streets, bridges, and parking infrastructure, and providing solid waste collection. Visit their website for additional information.
Parks and Recreation
Kansas City, Missouri Parks and Recreation provides facilities, programs and recreational opportunities for the community that contributes to an aesthetically pleasing environment and enhanced quality of life.
The department operates and maintains close to 12,000 acres of parkland including 220 parks, 29 lakes, 100+ miles of trails and bikeways, hundreds of athletic fields and tennis courts, 61 picnic shelters, five golf courses and four museums. Scenic boulevards and parkways crisscross the city, where fountains and ornamental structures surprise and delight.

The Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department works directly with citizens to protect their quality of life and the livability of our neighborhoods. With a variety of programs both city-wide and in targeted areas, we protect and sustain residential buildings, monitor nuisance businesses, and respond to many types of concerns that directly impact where we all live, work, and play.
